Finding the right way to eat can be difficult. You want to lose weight but don’t want to feel deprived. And while there are plenty of foods that promote weight loss, there are also many (many!) other options out there that don’t necessarily help with your weight loss goals. So I’ve compiled this list of 5 foods that will help you shed pounds without making you feel deprived:
Brown rice
Brown rice is an excellent source of fiber, manganese, and selenium. A study published in the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition” found that brown rice contains more essential amino acids than white rice. Brown rice also provides protein, B vitamins, magnesium, and zinc. Brown rice has a higher nutritional value than white varieties as it contains more minerals like magnesium which helps regulate blood sugar levels in the body. It is also high in antioxidants known as phenolic compounds that prevent damage caused by free radicals produced during metabolism (you can read more about these here). This makes brown rice an ideal choice for people who want to lose weight or keep their body healthy because it helps reduce inflammation which causes pain in joints like those experienced after exercise or sports activities such as running, etcetera.
Chicken Breast
A great source of protein is chicken breast, which is low in fat and protein. It contains no carbohydrates and is an excellent source of vitamins A, B6, E, and K. Chicken breast can be prepared in many ways:
- Roasted (without the skin) on skewers with peppers and onions for a simple meal that also provides iron, zinc, and vitamin B6;
- With pesto sauce for an exotic dish that also contains calcium; or
- It was cooked with sautéed spinach or kale for another healthy option when you’re looking to lose weight.
Lean Beef
Lean meat is an excellent source of protein, which helps you build and maintain lean muscle. A 3oz. serving of lean beef contains 28 grams of protein, compared to only 18 grams in turkey or chicken breast. Beef also has less than half the calories of other meats; it’s low in fat and high in iron and zinc—all essential nutrients that help maintain healthy metabolism and energy levels throughout the day. Lean beef is an excellent source of iron; just one serving provides more than half your daily recommended dose! Zinc is vital in helping your body absorb vitamins A and C (both important antioxidants). Eating more zinc-rich foods like this can help protect against disease by keeping your immune system strong against infections caused by viruses or bacteria.”
Salmon Fillet
Omega-3 fatty acids and protein are both high in salmon, which help to lower cholesterol. It also contains B vitamins such as thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin. Salmon has been shown to help maintain healthy skin and hair by reducing wrinkles or sun spots caused by age.
Eggs
Eggs are a great source of protein and are also high in vitamins A, D, B12, and choline. Choline is essential for brain health because it helps produce acetylcholine—a neurotransmitter that plays a vital role in memory formation. Eggs are also rich in lutein (an antioxidant), which protects your eyes from light damage to keep them healthy.
These foods can help you shed pounds without making you feel deprived.
These foods can indeed help you shed pounds without making you feel deprived.
- High in protein and fiber, they’re low in calories and filling. Combining lean meat like chicken or fish with high-fiber veggies like broccoli will fill your stomach and keep hunger at bay for longer periods than other types of food (like cookies).
- Healthy, nutritious, and easy to prepare—no need for fast food when these options are available!
