The Options Exchange
The Options Exchange (CBOE) is the largest in the U.S. and is one of only two exchanges that can be used to trade S&P 500 Index futures.
The CBOE was founded in 1974 by Jay Fleming and Charles Schwab, who initially traded on their premises before opening a shop at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). The CBOE became a member of the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) when it was formed in 1975, allowing them access to clearing services provided by this entity; however, they maintained their membership until 1985, when they joined OCC full-time instead.[2]
